Great place with great food, good service with good prices and excellent bloody marys!

I really enjoy they make me feel like family with just a smile. It's a popular place as you will tell with all the people waiting. Always a good sign and I definitely don't mind waiting. Food is delicious!!!

I recommend the Tuna Melt as well as one of the benedicts. It is my favorite spot when taking out friends for breakfast. Be prepared for long wait times... especially during the weekends. However the wait is not enough for me to cut out any stars.

I haven't seen Dan in so long. I miss him. We used to eat out regularly. It was good to finally spend time together and catch up. We were aiming for brunch for some reason. He usually lets me pick where to eat. Bill's came up because I did not want to pick a place that is too far for him. I picked this location because I figured parking wouldn't be an issue. Boy was I wrong. Us picking to meet at 11AM was wrong, too. The place was packed. I came early and put my name down. The wait was over 45 minutes. Not that I mind because like me, Dan is punctual. It felt as if we picked up right where we left off.. I was happy to see him. Huge restaurant w/ outdoor seating available. Coffee is available whilst you wait. I see people w/ mimosas and Bloody Mary's. The hostess was nice. Our server was quick and friendly... she came back to check on us which is what I usually take notice when I am at a restaurant. He ordered a scramble of some sort. I ordered the omelet (something w/ goat cheese, mushrooms, spinach, etc.). I picked roasted potatoes and whole wheat toast. The order did not take long to come out at all... my omelet was tasty though rather dry. The roasted potatoes were tender. A decent meal, mind you but nothing that would make me a returning patron. He insisted on paying. I got him next time. No more being MIA. When is our next eating out date, Anh?

Definitely a nice atmosphere, not your usually denny's or carrows style. Modern, has a bar, nice tile & seats. Food was very good. Great breakfast! Pancakes, thick & fluffy, bacon was crisp, not greasy.

Bomb shit! Mamosas and real steak. I've been to so many places where they would have steak and eggs as a deal and the steak was a thin fatty yucky slice of who knows what. Point being the steak is bomb and the pricing is reasonable. Just watch the wait on a Sunday after church. They're not waiting an hour for anything.

I went here with my sister on her bday as I was headed out of town and it's close to her and the freeway. I can't believe I haven't been here before! We both ordered egg Benedict, she got the regular and I got the crab cake since our server said that's what he would get. It did not disappoint. The crab cake was crisp and firm with a very crab filled center and great seasonings. The eggs were poached perfectly and the English muffin was nice. To try a new item next time or stick with the crab.... Only time Will tell.

I have tried Bill's Cafe in the past and the great food and service brought me to back to Bill's again, this time to a different location. On a Sunday, when we arrived at 10.30am, there was a 45min wait time. We were already drooping with sleep then without a cup of java. Luckily, they had a pot of free coffee outside the cafe. That is just a sweet gesture. Anyway, in 45min we got seated and ordered the following: - Crab Benedict - Portobello Mushroom Omlette Both the dishes come with a choice of hash browns or seasoned potatoes. We went for the seasoned potatoes and they were real good! The benedict and the omlette tasted great; we thoroughly relished our brunch. Will certainly return to Bill's without a second thought!

AHHHHHHHHH I usually hate the average breakfast food and getting up early, but after reading the menu online I was super pumped to try this place out! What stood out for me in their menu was the crab cake benedict. It just sounded deliciously amazing. Well.. it was amazing. ... the eggs were nicely poached and leaked deliciously onto my crunchy crabcakes, on top of a soft English muffin. I recommend getting the hash browns over the seasoned potatoes. Potatoes were bland, but I tried a bit of the hash browns as well, and they were perfectly crisp and tasty! Waiters were attentive and the place had a nice small diner feel to it. I was surprised how busy it was, but getting a table required no wait :)

Y can't u give 0 stars because they really suck looking for dry pancakes and waffles and saggy bacon then go to bills

For some reason I get the impression that Bill's Cafe is supposed to be some sort of "institution" as indicated by their "since 1977" tag line. I'm certainly not too overwhelmed. I've eaten here about 5 times since moving to the California and feel that this time will be my last. Some positives: large portions, descent breakfast, California Pepper Plant sauce at the table. On the other side of the ledger the service is hit or miss. Sandwiches like their club lack character and the fries come out soggy. Finally their glassware is tiny. Combine this with spotty service and you might get thirsty throughout your meal. I guess what I mean to say Bill, is that I'm breaking up with you.

This updated review is for their food. You usually can't go wrong with breakfast/brunch foods, and this place hasn't disappointed me yet (flavor-wise). Their portions are fairly large, almost similar to Crepevine. I recently ordered their veggie hash, and I enjoyed it! But I'm also a sucker for hash browns....

Decent choices for vegetarians, great service, and great food.

Amazing. I'm never disappointed with the quality of food and always leave satisfied! Their dishes are creative so one can stray away from the standard eggs and bacon. The Hawaiian and Oreo pancakes are to die for. They also have a "healthy choices" section of the menu. Always love bill's!

Seated right next to a big, loud group, ignored as a waiter walks by twice bumping my arm? Bill's thinks they've all that, but service is arrogant. Move on to Sky Kitchen on Snell at Blossom Hill. We did.

I ordered the crab cake Benedict with hash browns and my boyfriend ordered the California Benedict with country potatoes. So yummy. We also ordered the bills famous mimosas to top it off. The two hostess in the front are ridiculous though. They gossip out LOUD and talk about other customers in a very rude way after they seat them that makes me very uncomfortable, but our waitress herself was awesome. So friendly and happy that it made our experience even better. The crab cake Benedict is veryyyy fulfilling though. I love that they add just the right amount of sauce on there. I also love to have ketchup on the side with a hint of tapatio or tobasco sauce for that little kick to go with my hash browns. Yummy!

We started coming here when flames went downhill. The food is usually really good, nice portion size but once in a while you get a fail such as burnt bacon or pancakes with a uncooked center such as this am. Wish the place was bigger too because if you don't get there early you will have a long wait. Overall, I recommend it but there are some areas that can use some improvement.

It has taken me a while to write this review because this place is so good it feels like home and not just another restaurant. It was only a few months ago that I tried Bill's for the first time and it quickly became my go to breakfast place when I'm in the area. They have a large selection of dishes, but my favorite is by far the Crab Cake Benedict. You know a good benedict when every element stands out on its own. The crab cakes are amazing and always perfectly cooked and their hollandaise sauce is creamy and compliments everything nicely. If you get any dish with tortillas they are hand-made and super tasty. I would also recommend trying their fresh squeezed orange juice. The wait may be long, so always call ahead, but the food is well worth it!

Awesome experience! It is worth the wait... My sone live this place and definitely will be back for more!!! Service was good and the people just don't stop coming!! Wow!!!

  • O P.

Food is good. If it's your birthday and at least 21 they will bring out the drums and a shot for you to take. The wait isn't too bad during the week but gets a bit crazy on the weekend just like anywhere else.

My cousin was craving the crab cake benedict so we decided to stop by Bill's Cafe. This time I decided to order the Hashbrown Skillet. It's basically hashbrown topped with bacon and tomatoes and one egg made any way we like. There was some sour cream and onions on the side too. I thought this dish was pretty good, but not as amazing as the crab cake benedict. I thought the hashbrown was not as crispy as I would have liked it. It only had a few areas that were crunchy. I loved how the bacon was perfectly done. If you're a fan of bacon, this is the perfect dish for you. The layer of bacon covered all of the hashbrown. This dish was pretty good. And I would recommend it to anyone who loves bacon and hashbrown. The service at Bill's Cafe was good, as always. The server constantly came around to refill our glasses with water and ask if we needed anything else. This is the perfect place for brunch.

Great food, great service. I had freshly squeezed orange juice and a portobello mushroom benediction. Orange juice was delicious. The benediction had spinach and other veggies too. Delicious with melt egg yolks. The hash Browns were a little bland. There were some annoying flies but overall great.

Bills is one of my favorite brunch restaurants to go to in San Jose. 4.5 stars for San Jose brunch places. The food is pretty amazing, there are so many different food options, i have a hard time choosing. This past time I ordered crab cake Benedict with fresh fruit, very good. My friends ordered the Benedict's, scramblers and chocolate chip pancakes. Judging on nothing left on their plate, they must have been satisfied. I love their mimosas! They are just the right to start off the morning. When we ordered our mimosas, the bartender asked that we wait so he could chill the cups that had just come out from the dishwasher. I thought this was extremely nice, as he could have served it to us in a hot glass. They have outdoor seating, which was a perfect atmosphere with the sun, mimosas, and great good!

Bills Cafe has been at this location for a while now but for some reason, I've never tried it. My son asked if we wanted to go Bill's Cafe to have breakfast this morning & I'm really glad we went. I figured it be really crowded though at 10:00 am on a Saturday morning but it wasn't too bad as we were seated in only 15 minutes. They have outdoor seating (we kinda wanted an outside table) but we took whatever was available & wound up getting a seat inside. No biggie. Great menu, lots of things to choose from. All 4 of us ordered, and were served about 8 minutes later! Quick service for how busy they were. I was really surprised. I got the California omelet. Very tasty, with hash browns and toast. Can't wait to go back & try their sandwiches. I hear they're pretty good!

Great brunch spot to have a meal. I ordered the country fried steak and 3 eggs which also came with biscuit, gravy, and hashbrowns. To top it off I paid an extra dollar to trade in my toast for any one pancake. Let's just say not much work was done after that brunch meal. I was able to finish all of the food, but I came in starving after an early morning workout. After eating this meal, I didn't have to eat until dinner time. I would definitely recommend coming here.

Eh, I'm underwhelmed. I ordered the crabs cake benedict, took a bite, and instantly knew I would not like it. It was too bland. The belgian waffles were good.

Good food but shady business!! Went here with 3 friends for breakfast and we ordered around 55 dollars worth of food. We went up to the front and asked her to split the bill 3 ways. Instantly she starts giving us attitude and asks me to tell her what each of us ordered. I tell her, so she gives us each a bill. My total came out to 13.45 and I have her 20 bucks, and she gave me 6 dollars back. Wtf?? I know it's just a couple of cents but it would be nice to let me pick the tip, I was gonna leave her like 4 dollars anyway. Also my friend gave her 5 dollars cash and asked her to put the rest of the 17 dollar total on his debit card, and she billed him 16 dollars on the card and kept the cash!! Dishonest business, stay away from Anstaci who fucked us over with our money.

My favorites are the blueberry pancakes and the veggie skillet. The wait to get seated can get long during peak times (with good reason). I suggest calling ahead for a table.

Going to keep this short and sweet. I came here for fathers day, the line was pretty quick seeing as it was just my dad and I. We were seated outside, the waitress was nice, so was the hostess. I ordered one salmon benedict and one crab cakes egg benedict. I would have rated higher had it not been for the fact that my egg on both benedicts were overcooked. The first had a soft yellow yolk and the second was downright boiled. I was saddened by this because every review raved about how good the eggs benedict were. The hollandaise didn't have much flavor but it was definitely not the worst I had. The crab cake was really good, I like the flavor. I am willing to try again, but I won't be burned again by an overcooked egg on the benedicts plate.

Fast great service! I went on a Saturday thinking I was way too late.Hey... if you're there any time near 10AM, you're looking at an hour wait time. I got seated within 10 minutes which was awesome!!! Of course the benedict (any) are delicious. I love me a good benedict. I ordered the bread pudding french toast and thought it was too sweet. It was also so much for a serving. My blood sugar level stayed high for a while afterwards. Come hungry because you are guaranteed two meals in one sitting.

Was on my way to Santa Cruz, but needed to get some breakfast & this resturant popped up. As I arrived I was welcomed and sat quickly. The restaurant was 3/4 full on a Thursday ! My girlfriends food and I were warm and delicious. Great customer service and food most deff stopping here if I'm on my way to the bay for Breakfast.

Excellent lunch choice. The crab bisque was delicious along with my Tuna Salad Sandwich. The place was hopping and the service was great. If you live in the area, I would definately check this place out.

The cafe is nice, small and cozy but the menu is huge and has a lot of variety. I had trouble choosing between the salmon eggs Benedict, the crab cake Benedict and cookies and cream waffles. I ended up getting the crab cakes Benedict. It was delicious and the crab cakes were nice and crispy. The hash browns were a bit sub par tho.

On Sundays, it can get pretty crazy here. There's plenty of parking though and they do a good job handling the large queue. There's free coffee while you wait outside. They have some great brunch drinks here. All are served in large glasses and goblets so make sure you have a dd. Some of my breakfast favorites include the Bread Pudding French Toast and the El Passo Benedict.

  • Adrian L.

The Mexicali Benedict is the best thing on the menu (that I've tried). The pulled pork was super tender and the poached eggs was a perfect complement. The service is decent. Be prepared to wait, which is always a good sign. Other breakfast dishes are also very good.

Great place to stop in for brunch. Make sure to call ahead as they do have a long wait some days. Bloody Mary, Mimosa, Michelada - all good. Love their omelets.

I love me some good ol' breakfast. Headed here with some relatives on July 5th at about 10 AM. I honestly was expecting the worst since it was the day after 4th of July, and many people would want to catch breakfast at a local favorite. Fortunately for us, the wait, which was estimated at 20 minutes, was less than 15 minutes. To my surprise, there were a couple of empty tables inside the restaurant, which made me question why there was a wait in the first place. People would be seated instantly had they opened those tables. Perhaps they were understaffed or the seating was reserved... who knows? It struck me as strange. Their menu had a lot of appetizing choices ranging from "Scrambles" to "Benedictions". I ordered a Petaluma Scramble with hash browns and toast. Other orders around the table included a Chorizo Omelette, Belgian Waffles, and a Smoked Salmon Benedict. Wait was a little on the longer side when compared to breakfast chains such as IHOP or Denny's. After about 20 minutes, our food arrived. My Petaluma Scramble, which consisted of chicken apple sausage, spinach, mushrooms, and Swiss cheese, was ok. It was a little ordinary and dry. It wasn't too rememberable. The dish was supposed to be topped with salsa, but when ordering, I asked for it on the side. However, they forgot to bring it out, and after asking the waitress, she brought it out after 5 minutes. The hash browns, on the other hand, were really good. I'm sure many old souls see hash browns as tasteless and a good compliment to the "main star", but Bill's Cafe's hash browns managed to grab my attention. They were buttery and not too crispy. Mmmm... trying not to drool just thinking about them. The Chorizo Omelette and Belgian Waffles that were ordered were, according to my cousins, good but not great. The Smoked Salmon Benedict... wow! My cousin couldn't finish it and gave me one. Very very good! It's a spin from the usual eggs benedict. Every bite was rich in smoked salmon and their delicious Hollandaise sauce. I really wish I had ordered that instead. Prices weren't too bad for a breakfast joint. Staff, on the other hand, wasn't too friendly. Along with their slow service came the unenthusiastic waiters and waitresses. They seemed like they were interested in getting the food in front of you and then getting the bill to you. Service at this location was definitely not up to par on my visit. In conclusion, Bill's Cafe is a great breakfast place when it comes to the out-of-the-ordinary food. The typical favorites you may usually get at other breakfast joints won't probably blow you away... but will have you leaving the restaurant stuffed. However, I would say a wait of 15 minutes or longer would not be worth it. Tip: I wouldn't recommend the outdoor seating. It looks a little cramped. Let them know you prefer inside... unless it adds on another hour to your wait time.

The other locations are way better. The staff is great and very friendly, however, my girlfriends mother ordered oatmeal twice and both times it came out cold.

This place is great!! We've been here couple of times now and not been disappointed. The egg benedicts are beyond amazing!! The bloody mary and mimosas are also yummy! On a nice day, they have outdoor seating too, which is great because you can take your dog in.

Other than the long wait, I can't find anything wrong with Bills. I usually go for the waffle or an omelette which I "build" using up to 5 ingredients per their menu. I have enjoyed my breakfast/brunch each time I have been here.

  • Joe B.

Clean place to eat. The wait's never too long... 1) Crab Cakes Benedict! 2) Portobello mushroom benedict! 3) MIMOSAS!!!!! 4) I ate one of their skillets too... All the food was great! My compliments to the chef! Service was dialed too! Speaking of which -- Make sure you have "Maggie" wait on you... SERIOUSLY. This girl deserves a friggin' raise. She's waited on us TWICE, and the second time I left my phone, and she put it behind the counter until we came back next day for it. Maggie is funny, fast, friendly, and very accommodating. Food was reasonably priced. I'm happy, and that's the bottom line.

  • Chole G.

This is my favorite Bill's location, I like this location mostly because of the staff, my favorite server I believe her name is Maggie. I had a difficult time deciding which Benedict to get.. She informed me I can order two orders of Benedict and have one on each! Which is awesome, cause I love tasting a little of everything! My favorite Benedict is probably the salmon, they don't go cheap on the salmon! I see more salmon in the Benedict than I see it most Lox Bagels! The mimosa are always tasty! Overall, friendly staff, quick good food for and reasonable prices!

Disappointed. I treated some out-of-town friends for brunch. Last year we all loved Bills Cafe on the Alameda. We were excited to find out that there was another Bills Cafe close by. Although the waitress was super friendly and the OJ freshly squeezed, a couple of my friends ordered the Monte Cristo and it was awful. The cheese must have been fake because it had no flavor and did not even melt. The thin slice of meat was overpowered by the fake cheese. The tiny scoop of potato salad was actually loaded with more onion and celery (?) Than potato. My burger was delish, but I think overall we will stick to the Bills Cafe - Alameda.

  • Sarah A.

Horrible food. McDonalds scrambled eggs are better than this. The eggs tasted like they were made out of plastic. There was a bowl of fruit I ordered for six dollars and it was small with basic fruit. Potatoes are not even fresh either, which is very surprising because we went in the morning!! So the service was so bad that my mother had to go in for her own water because no one was coming to us, and believe me it wasn't even that busy.

Been here about 3 times already and each time I had the pleasure of dealing with Dimitri (spelling?) He is very honest and he helped out a lot. If you're in the area this is a great place to eat. Also, the food we ordered were all done right.

Enjoyed a delicious hearty breakfast this morning with my family. Shared the crab eggs Benedict and Hawaiian pancakes - best dishes ever! However, my favorite were the Hawaiian pancakes which had coconut, banana, and macadamia nuts - perfect combination and something I will try to recreate at home! Can't wait to have breakfast here again when I'm in the Bay Area!

I came here on a Sunday for BREAKFAST! Despite my check-in saying brunch at 9:30AM. Whoops! Excuse my brain fart (: We were told the wait would be 30 minutes but it was actually about 20, hooray! This location is a lot smaller than I imagined. Located right across from OSH. It was a breezy morning and there wasn't much space to wait inside so I'm sure the peeps outside appreciated the self-serve coffee station. When we were seated and given menus, our waiter asked if we wanted coffee. Yes, please! I chose one of the benedictions - eggs benedict with seasoned country potatoes. Oh boy, was I excited! I've seen SO many pictures and heard SO many things about the eggs benedict here. My food arrived and I noticed that the temperature wasn't as hot as I'd like ): Plus someone knocked water and almost splashed on me! That's okay, accidents happen and at least I wasn't caught in the line of fire! I also noticed that my portion of potatoes was puny! Although I'm not a heavy eater, I just felt like that was hardly anything. The eggs benedict was really good but I wish the english muffin was more toasted? It seemed really soggy even when my yolk wasn't broken.. Our watier came to refill our coffee and water several times and asked how we were doing - I really appreciate that! Although I enjoyed breakfast (and my company), I felt like it was just an okay experience. Good breakfast but not the best ever!

This place is an awesome breakfast spot. The food is awesome, it comes out quick, and the service is pretty good to great. (Try the huge mimosas.) The only downside is the ridiculous wait for seating. There's always a line and it's always long, but I'm willing to wait for the pancakes and omelets. Yum.

Came here on our way down from SF back home. We ate with some family, on a Sunday morning. Place was packed! We waited for about an hour or so, which was not too fun. Luckily, when we were finally seated the food came out pretty quick. Nothing too exceptional about the food. We tried some of the pancakes, the french toast and the California omelette. All tasted what I expected from a cafe. The food is good, but the wait wasn't all that. Service was good, but nothing exceptional. Try it for breakfast, but try to avoid rush hour.

Actually really good food for once, nice atmosphere, good service. Better than most breakfast places. Since its nice there is a wait.

was staying in the area and gave this place a try. Food was great tasted amazing and was fresh I had the croissant French toast today and the protein omelet and both were great. The only reason i gave one less start was because they didn't give me silver ware today so my coffee was left there without me being able to stir it until my food was there. Maybe it's because I sat outside but nonetheless I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area. Food comes out quick which I truly love about a food establishment.

This is one of my favorite breakfast places I have ever been to. The omelets are amazing!!! The California omelet is my favorite. They also have massive mimosas with fresh pressed oj. I would get brunch here any day!

Okay, this time we were by Kooser and happened to come across another Bill's. They are all over, I guess. From years prior when we dined at the one off Cottle, we hesitantly went for another try. Same problems, different location. No waiter to come by. Actually, another waiter took our order after seeing us wait close to 10 minutes for anyone to help us. Breakfast came. Portions got smaller, price got higher. I know, inflation...I get that. Once again, the bus persons worked more diligently and faster than the waiters. I finally understand why people are so crazy for this place. The watered down mimosas.

Let's begin to say that this place has the best Benedict in town!!!! So for all you brunch lovers.. Come here! And bring your neighbors too! Parking is pretty open and can get crowded on the weekends, so come early! There is both inside and patio dining, which is nice on summer mornings! This place has an extensive menu from lunch sandwhiches and salads to waffles and my boufriend's favorite... EGGS BENEDICT. The crab cake Benedict is awesome, slightly salty, but wonderful. Also, their omelettes are a good size. I have this place 4 stars for the slow service and outdated decor. Other than that, this is one of our go-to places for brunch!

First time at bills and It its won't be my last , love this place! Great food and big portions, you can't go wrong with that. Great atmosphere, good service and the best part its a block from our place. Have to thank the wife for introducing me to Bill's.

What's not to love at Bill's Cafe? Be prepared to wait to get in as this is a popular breakfast/brunch place. I love that they have a free coffee station for all those waiting for a table. My usual order includes a California benedict with hash browns & their mimosa! Such a filling meal that I usually don't need lunch afterwards since the portions are quite generous. Benedicts are made to perfection every time! Their mimosa utilizes fresh orange juice & slices of strawberries with no ice. Yup, no diluted mimosa! Service is okay, but that's okay since I'm there to pig out. Definitely one of my favorite bruch spots!

  • Nicole S.

I always go here for breakfast, so it's about time I write a review. Dishes here are always good. The French Skillet is amazing. It's my favorite dish here. Comes with country potatoes, ham, asparagus, red onions, cheese, eggs your way, and hollandaise sauce on top. Other good choices are: Cookies & Cream pancake - crushed oreo cookies in the pancake Corned Beef Hash & eggs Bill's even lets you choose a pancake instead of toast with your order (I think there was a little added cost). Don't forget their mimosa! They're made with fresh squeezed OJ and served in a large glass bowl. Plus they even add sliced strawberries

I love coming here for lunch. The food is great and there's lots of selections to choose from whether is eggs Benedict's, pancakes, waffles or a simple American breakfast! I always get the Smoked Salmon Benedict and it was DELICIOUS. The Crab Cake Benedict is also a favorite here. Service is great. Free coffee refills!! It's a great place to go with family and friends when you have no idea where to go for lunch or breakfast! Definitely one of my breakfast/lunch stops! Be aware of a long wait though!

This is one my favorite breakfast places in the area. My family and I have been coming here for years. One of the best items on the menu I recommend are the benedicts. They are not too runny and very well prepared.

Yumminess overload! I have been coming here for years and never have i walked away regretting the visit. Delicious pancakes and amazing fresh squeezed OJ are a must and Bill's has it down! Although it is a bit small its still comfortable. Will continue to come here!

Love this place if you can wake up before noon. The wait may take 20mins plus afternoon, 15mins before. Their Sunday strong mimosas and Bloody Mary, how can you not love the start up. Huge plates! Always ask.what's there specials. I made the mistake of ordering southern biscuits and gravy, biscuits were doughie and tasted chalkie, couldn't eat it. The waiter gave me a muffin to substitute, which is ok but I really missed those fluffy buttery biscuits smothered in gravy. Oh well, at least the drinks were a hit and I may be back.for that. I gave it a 4star for ok service, wish food was better.

this place is okay but it is always crowded on weekends for 30-40min wait. I have eaten here couple of times and although the food is decent, it isn't really worth the wait. Waiting staff was prompt and pleasure to talk to. But the food is so-so.

Brunch date! This place was packed! I've always wanted to try this place but never got around to it....or more like never had anyone to go with lol. Anyway there was a wait but they moved pretty quickly. The portions here are quite large so I defs had to control myself. I don't eat much in the morning so eating a heavy, hard meal can be overwhelming for my stomach! My friend suggested the banana bread pudding toast which was awesome!!!! It kind of got too sweet though but nevertheless I enjoyed it. I liked the firmness of the bread pudding and the thick slices of banana on it. I don't like raisins but actually didn't mind it in the toast. Sausage and eggs were whatever. His eggs Benedict looked pretty bomb! Next time I am totally getting the salmon one. Great brunch place in SJ!

I came back like two days ago. It was still the same experience that I had the first time. Friend and I came around 10am and we waited about 10 minutes before we got seated, but two people is easier to seat versus three or more! ;) We ordered two orange juices ($3.99 each), Very Berry French Toast without whipped cream ($10.50), and 2 eggs with ham ($7.28). My french toast I ordered without whipped cream (on that diet, you know). It was good, not great. The fruits were refreshing! Seemed like it was missing some key ingredient, but super glad they left butter and syrup on the side! Ham and eggs were both tasty. Total of $27.98 with tax included.

In my neighborhood, but I had never eaten here until today. Delicious food. I had a scramble with chicken apple sausage, mushrooms, spinach and Swiss cheese. The fresh potatoes had nice spice on them. Yes it's busy.. we had a 15 minute wait.. worth the wait though. We sat outside in the glorious Sunday morning air and enjoyed a super feast. I'm happy!

Well what can I say, this is my go-to spot for brunch on the weekends. Mostly because of its proximity to my apartment so I can walk off the enormous brunch that I just inhaled. The food is great, although I have comfortably nestled into my favorite dish, the Santa Ana Scambled (with some Pepper Plant sauce!!!). The staff is always friendly, though from time to time, I have had to remind them of that I ordered coffee. I don't really consider that a deal breaker though. Here's the thing: there is a long wait on the weekends. Wait, what? A wait time for a brunch spot?! Yeah there is, although if you are a smart cookie, call ahead to put your name on the list. Or make a Target run, now its across the street.

Definitely get the crab cake egg Benedict. You should probably share an order with your friend. Line and wait times can get insane. I went with my mom at 9 and we had to wait until 9:30am (Saturday). They need to clean their indoor seating more thoroughly, as I found (and expertly hid from my mother's sight) a cockroach climbing up my leg. They're often misjudged btw, as they are pretty clean and like to wash themselves often..until they start crawling in the garbage can looking for leftovers. Food-wise: 9/10 would go again. I'll probably enjoy outdoor seating more..

I've been to a couple of Bill's Cafe and I really like this location. Parking is much easier to find than the Willow Glen spot. It is a newer location so it is much nicer feeling inside. The food is comes out quickly without compromising the quality. The last time we were here we came with a HUGE party of 15. Our servers did not skip a beat and were on top of everything. Food came out relatively quickly even though it was Sunday brunch and the restaurant was full. Nice variety in the menu, we were all able to order something that satisfied our cravings.

This place is always crowded and I don't understand why...the servers are all Hispanic and speak poor English and the manager is a rude unprofessional bitter man. I don't get what the hype is .

Call ahead on weekends to get your name on the list, one of my favorite places on a Sunday morning. Amazing Benedict options, and the Fresh squeezed juice makes it all the better.

Waited only 10 minutes to be seated. Ordered Hash brown skillet, Santa Ana scramble and chocolate chip pancakes. Food came out fairly quick. Waitress was attentive and nice despite being very busy. Food was delicious, especially the hash brown skillet and pancakes. Reasonably-priced to top it all off. We will definitely come back.

The place is extremely busy over the weekend . You have to wait about 30-40 min . Good food I recommend California Benedict with sauce on the side .the service is okay could be much much better . Overall it's nice place to have brunch . * the service needs major improvement specially the sitting arrangements are extremely unorganised !

If I could eat here once a week, I would (and then some more). Seriously. The best breakfast & brunch place in the city of SJ. The go-to breakfast place. It's jam-packed. It's such a lively ambiance. On weekends, the place is packed. Honestly, expect a pretty long wait. Crab Cakes Benedict. Simple as that. A favorite at Bill's Cafe. The crab cake is unlike any one I've seen. It's not the traditional lumpy crab cake depicted. Two crab cakes is just more than enough. You definitely get your money's worth. Not only is it such a delectable dish but you actually get full. You won't be leaving hungry. By the way, in terms of sides, I suggest the country potatoes over the hash browns. The hash browns were pretty vapid. Oh and I have praise for the chicken apple sausage. Gotten it twice before and it's a pretty tender and flavorful sausage. Not greasy and not too fattening. Perfect.

Best breakfast place I've been to in a long time . The food was great, fast service, great hostess, and the mimosa was to die for. I'm very plain do I always get, country potatoes, bacon, wheat toast and a side of fruit. I sounds simple but you would be surprised in how many people mess that up. May I add that the fruit was fresh and full of strawberries, pineapple, grapes and melon. Yumm!!!

So yummy!! I love this place but you have to go early to get seated in a reasonable amount of time OR to get a spot at the breakfast bar. Food is great!!

The only reason I didn't give Bill's Cafe five stars is because I'd like to try more of the menu before doing so. I went early on a Friday morning when there weren't too many other customers. I was given a booth immediately, and service was prompt and polite, but not intrusive. I had some french toast and fruit, plenty for my appetite, and was completely satisfied in that the bill was only around $10 for good portions. If I'm in the area, I'll definitely try to get back here some time. It seems like a simple, good quality place to grab a meal.

I live in Southern California, I fly into San Jose airport to see my girlfriend and we found this place. The last 4- my last 10 visits, we always eat here. It's actually really good food with an averaged price menu. Price- average, not too expensive Service- it has always been good, people were attentive Food- I always get different omelets and the portions are kind of oversized. The average price there ranged from 9-13$ not bad for how much food you get. It was a good find for me

I love their crab cake benedict. So delicious, and the hollandaise sauce isn't too rich. I've had breakfast places that have huge portions, and even though Bill's Cafe portions aren't that big, they're still really filling. My friends and I all had a type of eggs benedict. This was actually my first time trying eggs benedict, and I was not disappointed. I also ordered a portobello mushroom benedict to-go for my sister. It looked really good too. We also ordered mimosas, which were alright. Not too strong. Very bubbly. The service was okay. We didn't wait that long--maybe around 10-15 minutes?

I absolutely LOVE this place for breakfast. Just having moved from Santa Barbara, where my favorite breakfast place was basically on the water, I knew that Bill's would have a hard act to follow. But boy did it deliver!! I've been twice & both times getting different things that were absolutely delicious! Free coffee while you wait because you most likely will wait but it's well worth it! Ask to sit outside on a nice day :)

We came here for breakfast and amazingly, I'd never been here. Mid week, there was no wait and we promptly seated! The menu was pretty large, but the benedicts caught my eye. Was planning on getting the crab cakes benedict, but my friend decided to order that as well. I hate ordering the same item, so settled for my second choice, which was the Caprese benedict. Actually enjoyed that more than the crab cakes, which weren't as good as I've had. Also got the house mimosa, which was great! Server was friendly and quick and liked the comfortable feel of eating here. Wish they had some more unique breakfast options, but altogether it was a solid and enjoyable meal.

My first time at this location of Bill's Cafe. We were there on a random Saturday at about 11 AM and we had to wait a good 30 - 40 minutes before we were seated. Definitely worth the wait! I had the Mexicano Omelette which was dynamite and I tried some of my husband's Almod Joy Pancakes and they were some of the best I have ever had! I would highly recommend Bill's Cafe for a breakfast, bruch, or lunch. Just be ready to wait awhile to get seated. (They did have a large carafe of Coffee outside for the folks that were waiting, so that was a really nice touch!) I'll definitely be coming back to Bill's the next time we're in the South Bay. :)

I haven't reviewed this yet? That's just wrong. Besides the fact that it serves the best Eggs Benedict ever. It serves the best Eggs Benedict EVA.. AS IN... EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Straight up thug life up in this place. You come in here, cool a$$ wait staff, cool a$$ servers, bombdiggity service, and yes ladies and gentlemen, a bar. If you're looking for a great place for breakfast, or you're in the mood to eat better than the last 10 years of your life, go here. Let me tell you about the eggs benedict (it's a crime if I don't), it's f*cking brilliant, yo. The sauce is damn near perfection, and the eggs -- OH JESUS! The Canadian Bacon... on the bread... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.............. As you can tell yelpers, this is a very informal review, why? Well simply put, this food will have you bamboozled, it will leave you shaking, it will induce you into child labor if you're pregnant. IT'S THAT GOOD. Get the eggs benedict, hashbrowns, toast.. and you're good to go.

  • Trang H.

Ordered the usual crab cake Benedict with hashbrowns, but for some odd reason eating it at 1 in the afternoon tastes different than having it at 10/11 am. My crab cake was warm, but the patty and egg was cold!! The hasbrowns looked pretty gross and not crispy at all. My bf ordered the breakfast burrito and it was pretty much not worth the money. Hopefully next time, our meals will be better.

I still like the food and I still like the service but picture coming here for breakfast, just getting your coffee, one eye slightly open, trying to wake up slowly when the staff comes out beating the heck out of snare drum, like it's a bass drum, turning your not quite awake brain into scrambled eggs. Yeah, I covered my ears and prayed that it would be over quickly. I was happy for the birthday girl and was relieved when it was over. I went back to sipping my morning coffee. Ah, just an isolated incident, right? Wrong. It happened at least two more times during breakfast. WTF?! GRRRR.... I'm not too happy with this practice. Singing for someone's birthday is nice but beating the living daylights out of a poor, innocent snare drum while people are trying to wake up and eat? No bueno.

Pretty good place for breakfast. We went on a Friday morning, it was pretty busy, but didn't wait too long to be seated. We sat outside, it was a beautiful morning, but there were soooo much flies. The service was ok. They were busy taking care of several birthdays. That was ok because they were accommodating afterwards. Pancakes were awesome. I got a short stack and it filled a whole large plate. The crabcake Benedict was just ok. If they used real crabs that would be delicious. I liked the other site better, but this one is good too.

Best Breakfast spot. Come hungry for breakfast though because their dishes will keep you full for the whole day. Come early because the lines get long and people are willing to wait for hours to get a seat especially on Sunday's after church. My favorites are the eggs Benedict variations.

I love a good Benedict and all the ones I have tried at Bill's is delicious!! Nothing bad to say, the portions are pretty big. Sometimes there's a wait, sometimes there isn't.. I usually come at around 8 or 9 in the morning. I like this location because it's near my house, other review says service here isn't as good as other locations but I prefer it to the one on the Alameda. It's more clean and less chaotic

Bills is the best. Love Bills but don't eat here. I hate waiting in line. The Mexicali benidict is awesome. But dont come here and get it because I want it. The michelada is fantastic. But don't come here because there is only one stall in the men's room and I hate waiting in line. Hope not to see you soon. Steve

I made my second visit to this Bill's location today. This is one of my go-to breakfast restaurants in San Jose because they have good food and an exceptional assortment of eggs benedict options. I shared an order of the portobello mushroom benedict with my mom and they split the plates for us without an extra charge. My dad ordered the Belgian waffle, and my brothers split the Italian sausage. All were tasty and plated nicely. Our server, Ana, was very attentive, never letting our cups run empty, which was a welcome treat considering the place was quite busy. Both times I've been here, it has been a long wait, but we called ahead to put our name down which helped. In one statement: good food, good service, good choice :)

Why have I not discover this place sooner? My friends been raving on how great this place is and how BOMB their egg benedict are. So I've decided to try it out here with my bf. Expect a wait especially during the weekends. Great service! : Quick & Courteous Suggested Ideas for Drinks: Their bloody marys & mimosas! The mimosa was "OK" i just like the fruit they put in it, fresh & sweet. Smoked Salmon Egg Benedict is to die for! caramelized onions capers and their gravy sauce..delicious. (but not for everyone) Crab Cake Egg Benedict: probably my favorite so far. It's crispy, crabs are cooked to perfection as well as the egg & gravy. My kind of cafe! Will be coming back to try more of items out of their yummy menu.

I can't really say much because I was hungover as **** but even under that much pain, I was able to enjoy my crab and salmon Benedict. Oh yes, they serve alcohol there too so it's really the best of both worlds. I will definitely update this review after I go there next time not hungover. Keep an eye out benny lovers ~ ^_^

Excellent service, wide variety of tastiness on the menu. Not too long a wait. We ordered the El Paso Benedict and the Bread Pudding French Toast. The French toast comes with whiskey sauce, which they will substitute for syrup. The fried bananas we a bit too sweet and cloying. The Benedict was a little bland for my taste, but the table top pepper sauce jazzed it up. We'll be back to try some of the other items.

My family has been coming here for a few years now. Sometimes it may take a while for someone to take your order, but we've never had any issue with the service Of all the Bill's locations this one makes the best Crab Cake Benedict. My Kids (&husband) LOVE the pancakes. My last visit I forgot to order a pancake stack 'togo' Jose took my order and then disappeared, then showed back up with a togo bag. I was impressed! He said he stole it from another order. The gesture was nice since my 2 yr old kept wandering around in the waiting area :)

Don't go to the South Bay much, but this was definitely on my "faves list". I got the pancake sandwich but it really wasn't a sandwich. It was just pancakes with a side of sausage and eggs ( a little bit misleading by the name). However, I forgave that right away once I ate my pancake! I got the oreo cookie pancakes! Those were so delish and had chunks of oreo cookies in the sandwich . Drink wise, I also got their mimosa which almost every table had. However, the only thing "amazing" was the size of it. And they had this really tacky straw that came with it. Seating - I like that there is both outdoor and indoor seating; however, you do have to wait. Good news we only had to wait 20-30 minutes during peak Sunday brunch time.

  • Vee B.

I only get one thing: crab cakes benedict. Oh lawdy, this dish rocks my socks. Perfect for that lazy Sunday morning brunch. Paired with their orange juice, oooohhhweeeee I can't get enough! PS: their customer service is EXCELLENT.

    (5)
  • Cindy C.

I'm giving this establishment another star because I'm absolutely in love with the salmon eggs benedict! It's the only thing I get when I come here for brunch. The portions are huge. It's a heavenly combination of toasted bagel, cream cheese, capers, smoked salmon, and poached eggs. I also always get it with country potatoes because they're seasoned very well. I tried their freshly squeezed orange juice for the first time and wow, it was amazing! You can definitely tell it was freshly squeezed. A little on the pricey side for a small glass of orange juice but it was kind of worth it... What's not worth it? The mimosas. Completely overrated. They taste terrible and very watered down.

  • Matt O.

Always busy at Bills, but when a new hostess skipped over us PLUS told us we had to wait another 15 minutes I literally had to stand in front of her until she would seat us. Customer service needs to be something this person learns, because we were very close to leaving and I would have to reconsider coming here in the future if we weren't taken care of by the other hostess that was working and stepped in to help. On the other hand, once we sat down at a table the server was great and the food was wonderful as always...

So I off-handedly mentioned to my friends the other day about how I've never had eggs benedict and I would like to, and at the same time, both of them turned to me and said "You need to try Bill's cafe." Then when I told my sister, she also told me she wanted to try Bill's because her friends were talking up a storm about it. So we decided that this weekend, I'll take her out to try it. When we got there, the place was bustling and packed, so it gotta be good, right? The staff was friendly, and even though there was a waiting list, we were seated after about five minutes or so. Service was quick and our server was attentive! My sister got the pancake combo because she's a pancake fanatic, while I ordered the crab cake eggs benedict. When our food came out, they looked and smelled great! Plus the portion size was very generous. Now, I don't know how the pancakes were personally, but my sister was in love. She told me that they were thick and fluffy and even though she was full, she couldn't stop eating. As for my crab cakes eggs benedict? Wow. Like that dish alone would give this place four stars. It was so delicious, I'm sure my eyes lit up when I took the first bite. I was already excited when I heard a crunch as I cut the crab cakes in half. I'm usually very iffy about crab cakes because I prefer crab cakes to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and boy, Bill's Cafe delivers. The english muffins were toasted perfectly, and the egg and sauce was on point. I am so glad that my first experience with eggs benedict was at Bill's Cafe because I cannot wait to go again and try the salmon eggs benedict. I'll see you again soon, Bill!

I heard so much hype about Bill's Cafe and I read all those wonderful reviews. I was really excited to try this place because brunch is my fave! Gotta love all that protein and carbs. Yum! We must've went at a really good time before there was no wait for a table! The service was fast and friendly. No complaints there! I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict because why not! What I didn't know was that they used imitation crab. Well it didn't taste very good to me and after just eating half of it I could barely eat the rest. I don't think the food is bad here. Obviously a lot of people like this place so I'll come back and try a different dish. They offer fresh squeezed orange juice which is pretty yummy.

  • Erin K.

I like the ambiance here but was not that impressed with the food. 1. oatmeal was basic and they didn't give enough! I know oatmeal doesn't cost that much to buy so why did I pay $6 for a cup of oatmeal and half a banana? 2. The 2 eggs + hash browns + pancakes were "like denny's but more expensive" according to a friend. 3. other friends got a club sandwich and the salmon benedict and those looked pretty good. 3 stars because it was clean and we stayed for an hour past the time they closed (3pm) and they didn't kick us out. BUT they made us feel awkward and started washing the floors with chlorine so our food started tasting funny. whatevs.

Bill's is amazing. We are new to the area & this is my favorite place to eat. Tip: The pancakes are amazing. The portions are so huge, my husband & I split a meal & get a pancake on the side (for like a $1.50) & are good to go. If they know you are splitting a meal they'll put it on 2 plates for you. :-)

  • Mai Y.

The infamous Bill's Café is a bit overhyped, but still a decent place to get brunch on the weekends. I recommend calling in ahead of time and asking them to put your name on the waiting list before you get there. The wait can range anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour and there's always tons of people waiting outside the restaurant. Steak and eggs- the steak is a pretty thick cut of meat and has good flavor to it. I was surprised at how big the steak was for $14. It also comes with 3 eggs. The waffles w/ strawberries had a surprisingly generous amount of strawberries on it, but they could've given us a little bit more whip cream. We shared this between 4 people at the end of our meal so it was the perfect amount. I wouldn't get just this for breakfast. It leaves me wanting something more. The chorizo omelette- I've had this several times and always thought it was pretty good. The portions are generous and the chorizo adds a lot of flavor to the omelette. The Mexicali Benedict- the pulled pork carnitas were good but not amazing. I like how they cook the hashbrowns though. It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The orange juice tastes very fresh, but the small is very small so get the large size instead. Overall, I like their Santa Clara location more. The food is a little better there probably because the family who owns the business actually works at that location.

My husband was here for a business trip and we decided to stop in at this place on the way home. Great food. Great service. I got the protein scramble and my husband got the fitness omelette. Both were delicious with a lot of flavor. And to add to our already healthy meal, we split a pancake, haha. It was the best pancake ever!! It was huge and moist and everything you want in a pancake :) Would definitely come back here again if we're in the area :)

Honestly I think this place is over hyped. The food was okay but the wait was long and the service was meh. I tried the Maybe I got the wrong thing but I really wasn't impressed and after an hour and half wait, I wished I just made breakfast at home. The chilaquiles were pretty bland to me. My husband just had bacon, eggs, home potatoes and toast. He did not like the potatoes at all.

We're out-of-towners looking for a decent place to get breakfast and so we turned to Yelp. Yelp said, "Go to Bill's!" and so we did. One look at the large crowd waiting to get in and we knew we were willing to wait. Fifty people waiting outside a non-tourist restaurant can't be wrong! This was on a Sunday so it's probably not so bad the rest of the week. It took 45-50 mins to get in and it WAS WORTH THE WAIT! It's all the normal food but very well prepared and delicious. I won't go into details when there are so many other reviews and photos. A Perfect American Breakfast!

  • Amanda D.

Bill's cafe, what can I say? The hashbrowns were bomb, But the rest was okay. My omelette was pretty big, And fulfilling, it was too, But it was a normal kind omelette Nothing really new. It's the kind of typical breakfast place, the one you stop at when you're on a long roadtrip or just because it's in your hometown and you're too lazy/hungover to make your own breakfast. I'd order just the hashbrowns again though lol

I've been going to Bill's Cafe on Cottle Rd. since they opened and have found the food to be a good value because the prices are reasonable and the quality is acceptable. The Greek Lemon and Chicken soup is delicious. My 3 stars today are for one of my normally favorite sandwiches, a turkey, bacon and cheese club sandwich. If you've ever had any club sandwich, the first bite of each quarter sandwich is the best. You get all of the ingredients at once. Once that first bite is over, you are scrambling around to align everything so that the second bite has most of the ingredients. By the time you take the third bite, there is no sandwich left, just ingredients all over the plate. The last bite is all toast and a little mayo. That is because restaurants don't even out the sandwich to a uniform thickness. Today I realized why I don't like them at Bill's. The sandwich looks large at first but then I took inventory. 2 thin slices of packaged turkey, some cold bacon left over from breakfast, 1-1/2 slices of pre-sliced American cheese, 2 slices of a small tomato, mayonnaise, cold sourdough toast and LETTUCE. I used capitals for a reason. When I laid out the ingredients on my plate, the lettuce was 4 times the height of all the others put together (less the toast). In order to bite into the sandwich, I had to remove more than half of the filler lettuce and I have a wide mouth! There was enough for a sandwich and a side salad, if I wanted a salad. The lettuce is cheap and fills the sandwich to make it appear larger than it really is. Let's not forget about the 2 thin slices of turkey. To make this turkey club really good would be to add one more slice of turkey, add the other half of the sliced cheese, use warm bacon, use larger tomatoes so that they cover the sandwich and use 1/3 the amount of lettuce. If the price has to go up a little, let it be but at least they would have a delicious, quality sandwich. I hope that Bill's management sees this review in a positive light and makes some changes.

Enjoyed breakfast here this morning. A small group of us, seated promptly and had great service and good food. On the order today... Cinnamon roll French toast with sausage and eggs. Eggs were cooked perfectly! Sausage was delicious Cinnamon roll French toast was thick and dry...would have been better had it been sliced thinner so the egg mixture could have been absorbed. Also, French toast! Fluffy and good Apple chicken sausage breakfast, this sausage was also great (I'm told) Protein egg scramble with fruit on the side...looked good...tasted good (I'm told) Coffee was coffee...did the trick, brewed right, nothing earth shattering.

The short: decent spot for south San Jose breakfast, brunch, lunch I came on my lunch break on Friday afternoon around 1 pm. Surprisingly, people were waiting outside for seats even though it was a weekday. Not itching to sit at a table, I chose the bar where I was immediately served. That's a huge plus of sitting at the bar; the servers there always know what's going on. I ordered the French bread pudding, a custom item offered "only at Bill's Café." Though fun in concept, I thought the bread was more dense than fluffy. The extra long half banana was not very ripe when cut and the sausage didn't have a full juicy flavor. And because of the large portion size, I took half of it home. When I ate it again later on in the afternoon, I noticed that the sauce had soaked a good amount, leaving an overwhelming rum taste. The servers were very attentive and nice, and I loved watching live news updates on the TV. Come here if you're looking for a super casual local spot for morning eats. If you're checking off places to eat, on the hunt for the best of them all (like I am), come and know that this place is just okay.

Oh Bill's. Hard not to love you. If only I was the only one in your life, I'd be much happier. Literally: one complaint. Too busy. Other than that, it's amazing. It's just that sometimes the crowds make the restaurant hard to navigate and obviously make the wait long. But it clearly says they have an amazing product and everyone else loves them as I do. I order different things here all the time and I have yet to love anything. It's so hard to try a new thing when the last was so delish. But you've gotta do what you've gotta do. Try everything. Seriously. Just come early. When the rest of us are still sleeping!!

They have the best pancakes here!!!..This is the spot to go when craving pancakes, I love the Hawaiian pancakes and almond joy however the best ones are the honey oat ones.I usually order them with buckwheat flour which are full of flavor and are a healthier choice. I also like to request almonds instead of raisins on them. I honestly crave this pancakes quite often lol..they are must if you are a pancake lover like me. Great service as well, and less crowded than other locations. The most I had to wait to be seated was about 10-15 min on friday mornings.

Always bring my friends and family to this restaurant, today was no different. Unfortunately it took my family a bit longer to get here and more coordination was required. Demetri was so kind and patient dealing with me and making sure I had a table by the time everyone got here. Everyone loved the breakfasts! Food here is always delicious, the staff is kind, patient and efficient! Thank you again Demetri!!!!

After a few years of avoiding this place, I came back and it was still not four star material at all. They messed up all of our hash browns(3). There was no signature golden crisp...just tasted like mashed potatoes. How do you do that? It's also my favorite part of the $15 meal, so I'm thoroughly disappointed..crab cake Benedict was good but the prices along with half my plate being mush, nope. Back to avoiding this place once again.

A great place to have a leisurely brunch. The husband and I come here often for weekend brunch, most recently for Father's Day. Parking gets a bit crowded when it's busy, but you can usually find a spot with minimal circling. The wait is the hardest part. Most weekends, our wait is about half an hour. On Father's Day, we waited over an hour. Other reviews say you can call and put your name on the list-- we tried this for Father's Day and just couldn't get the call through! We will probably try again on a regular day. Once we were in, service was pretty quick. Our server came by often enough that we were never thirsty, and our food and drinks came out fast. If you have the time, the food is definitely worth the wait. We've tried a different dish each time and have not been disappointed yet. While I enjoyed the Bread Pudding French Toast, I would not recommend it. It seemed more like a dessert than a meal-- rich, creamy, and very sweet. Post-meal nap incoming! Our favorites include: Chorizo Scramble, Country Fried Steak, Portabello Benedict, and Hash Brown Skillet.

Great spot near my house for breakfast foods. One should arrive here early for the best possible seat in the restaurant because they fill up quick around noon time. Everything is yummy here but my favorite are their omelettes! They give out big portions & their eggs are so fluffy & so bomb with avocados, cheese, and toasted bread of your choice. Anyways you can't go wrong with breakfast foods! Recommended.

This spot is pretty great. I would recommend it for groups though because it gets pretty loud. A few weeks ago I came here with a few best friends and we had pretty good service. The staff was really busy but the benedict was amazing. We'll be coming back!

This is my absolute favorite place to have a lovely brunch date. I love their small plates on Monday-Friday because it prevents you from over eating their amazing food!! Big plus: the outdoor seating is absolutely dog friendly. Although I've always enjoyed a morning mimosa, I can't help but order a Bloody Mary here. By far one of my favorite places to order it! It is perfection with any Benedict, especially the crab cake and caprese ones. Delicious bites. I haven't ordered much else from their menu because those are so addicting so give them a try and you won't be disappointed. Suggestion: dabble a bit of pepper plant on everything and enjoy!!

We came here one Sunday and we're surprised how booked the place is. We were guided by a friend's good rating. So we started thinking it could really be a great find... But no... I've experienced better! I ordered pancakes and it was so thick and dry, I just had a quarter of it. The Denver omelet looks like scrambled egg with twice cooked ingredients that they carelessly throw on top of it. And the service is there but it was as robotic as anybody could be in that place. I feel like they think we should thank our lucky stars for being able to have a tiny table after a long wait. In short, the hype is just all hype and not really deserving 5-stars for me.

  • Zohra K.

My favorite breakfast spot! I would definitely recommend the omelettes, the Californian is my personal favorite! Try to get there early because there can be a bit of a wait sometimes, but other than that you can't go wrong with Bill's!!

This place is always a safe bet for brunch. Sure there might be better, more sophisticated brunch places out there but if you're having a hard time choosing a spot, just come here and eat. Got the steak and eggs today. I'm glad I got it Medium rare this time since getting it more done than that ends up well done, whatever it is you asked for. But no worries, they will grill you a new one if the one you got is not up to your standards. Overall I've been happy with this spot. Nice service, and pretty quick most times. Food is pretty good and the spot is clean. Take your dates here (the ones the you plan on calling back) for that "morning after breakfast" and she might just forgive you for that whiskey dick you had the previous night. How's that for a first review? Fuck yeah!!! Peace out!

I love Bill's Cafe's brunch. The downside? The wait. There are always a TON of people here waiting for weekend brunch. The wait isn't that bad when you get there early, before noon. After noon, expect to wait at least 30-45 minutes or more if you have a group larger than 4. I don't really have a go-to here; I usually order something different each time since there are so many great options. I'm a benedict type of gal, so I've tried the Portabello Mushroom Benedict (healthier option), Mexicali Benedict (yummy pulled pork), and Smoked Salmon Benedict. I loved the Hash Brown Skillet on my last visit too. It was a lot of food for me, so my friends helped me finish it off -- delicious crisp hash browns on the bottom topped with cheese, tomatoes, bacon, green onions, and eggs (your choice of style). There were avocado slices on the side too! Tip: go early to put down your name for your group; by the time you sit, you'll be hungry :) Grab a coffee outside (free) or head to the bar for a mimosa to dull the pain of the wait!

Great Breakfast place. They have a great selection of breakfast and some lunch options for brunch. They have a good selection of healthy meals and breakfast cocktail selections. Prices are reasonable and service is consistently great. They have a second location in willow glen, but I personally prefer this location as wait time is not nearly as long as it usually is in willow Glen.

Great place for a healthy breakfast & lunch! I usually come here for breakfast before school. The service is fast, variety of menu and reasonable price too. Parking sometimes get packed but only happens in weekend or public holidays. Recommend for local area.

If you go on the weekend expect a little bit of wait but it is not that bad because they provide free coffee prior to being seated. I have been there a few times; first time I got a bacon avocado oamlet and it was really good, second time I got the Chicken Fried Steak and it was delicious but bring your appetite because it is a lot of food. We always sit outside because we like to bring our dog and the service is great.

If you haven't tried their crab cake benedict, you are missing out. I must warn you, it is a bit on the heavy side, but it's so delicious. The crab cakes has a nice crisp on the outside, super flavorful on the inside. Add the hollandaise sauce and that poached egg on top and it's heaven goodness. The first time I had it, my bf tried a piece and absolutely loved it. Ever since then, that's all he's been ordering with a side of pancakes. Yes, their pancakes are light and fluffy. Only pancakes to make my sister roll her eyes back. I'm not a pancake fan, but I must agree it's one of the better pancakes I've tried. Now if you're looking for a lighter meal, get the protein scramble. Egg whites, chicken apple sausage, spinach, asparagus with a side of fruits. Perfect portion after a workout or a good hike. The line does get long, but it is worth the wait. Service is friendly, food is awesome, best breakfast place to go in town.

Bills is definitely my go to place for breakfast and mimosas. I like to switch it up every time I go. I just recently just had the crab cakes egg benedict and I loved it. My usual are the country fried steak and eggs and the jalisco scramble. I also love their Mexican coffee, they add some kahlua and tequila for a nice kick. This location is so convenient to me, because it's close to home, but it happens to be one of their busier locations. I suggest you call in advance and put your name out which will save you a lot of wait time. As far as the service, it's inconsistent. There are times where I get superior service and there are other times where my waiter is no where to be seen for long periods of time because they have so many other tables to attend to. It would be nice if they had more staff during their busy weekend mornings. Other than that, it's a good place to have breakfast with family and friends.

I love Bill's! It's the perfect place for breakfast or brunch with a friend. This location was nice because it had a lot of outdoor seating&my friend&I were seated pretty quickly. I ordered the crab cakes benedict&she had the French toast sandwich. I was really unsure about ordering it because I'm not a huge fan of crab cakes, but oh my gosh it was amazing. The crab flavor didn't overwhelm the hollandaise or English muffin or egg like I thought it would. All the flavors were balanced out&it was so delicious! I'm so glad I ordered it. Their hash browns were super crispy&delicious as well. My friend really liked her French toast sandwich as well - they gave her so much that she couldn't even finish it. The only thing that was weird was that the waiter was really rude to my friend but courteous to me? It was really odd&she didn't like, but I didn't appreciate it either. So odd.

Bill's happens to be one of my favorite breakfast spots. The food is consistently delicious. Some of my favorite breakfast items are: the Southern Scramble, the Chorizo Scramble, and the Cinnamon French Toast. They always give a really generous portion of food. And no matter how busy they are, they seem to bring it to your table very quickly, which is a huge plus when you're starving! Also, don't forget about ordering a Mimosa because they're amazing. The only negative thing I would say is that the wait can be pretty crazy on the weekends, but that comes with the territory when a place has great food.

Visiting from TX and checked Yelp for "brunch". So glad the reviews allowed us to make the right decision. Julio was very helpful at front and checked on us during our wait. The hour wait seemed less with great mimosas and bloody marys from the convenient bar located at front door. The food and table service will not disappoint. Come hungry, portions are huge.

My boyfriend and came for breakfast and it was so good. Great atmosphere with very friendly waitstaff. Our server was very nice and was always there for more refills and didn't mind or seem put out when I spilled my coffee. We have found our new breakfast place!!

Worst service I've ever received at a breakfast house. Wasn't greeted, sent to bar. Ignored at bar. Never greeted or waited on. Ten minutes later I just walked out. The place is old and not very clean. Bills is over packed, with not much space to move around inside. Parking is a nightmare also. This is my third time here and I will never come back even though it is one block from where I work.

I know I rate a lot of things 5 stars but when it's BOMB how can I rate 4 star? Lol took my gramma out for breakfast in San Jose to get away for a bit and had the smoked salmon Benedict w hash browns.... WOW! Good and fast service! Nice to sit outside and eat :)

My boyfriend and I went to Bill's today for a late breakfast and normally we are met with great food and good service. Unfortunately, the service we recieved today was subpar. Our server was merely there to take our orders and give us our food afterwards he was no where to be seen. My boyfriend later spotted him chatting away at the register completely ignoring his tables. However when we were done eating he was more than eager to get our checks not even notcing our empty waters or even offer to refill them. I'm a server myself and I understand if it was busy and understaffed then it would be difficult to check on our table multiple times but he didn't even check on us once. Really disappointed in the service the food was great as always but there is a lot of room for improvement for the service.

Bill's is generally okay, but you need to know what to order. For a breakfast restaurant they do a lousy job with pancakes. Too dark, too thick and if you send them back, they come out lighter, but doughy. So... no pancakes. First customer in the morning and the bacon is cold with add one pieces dark and some still undercooked. Omelets are usually good and lots of choices. Hamburgers are below average. Most sandwiches are just ok. Greek lemon soup is very good. Tortilla soup is fantastic, but only offered on Thursdays for some reason.

We love the Bills on Willow Glen but on our last visit we tried out the Bill's on Cottle. Like any bills on a Sunday your wait time is gonna be an hour. Best to send someone ahead to put your name in and start waiting for you. This one is in a strip mall kind place so its basically a resturant in a strip mall. Not the same vibe as in Willow Glen. Not a bad thing, just an observation. Other than that, everything you would expect when dining at Bills. Large amounts of food, great hash browns. noisy/loud. They also have a full bar if that's what your looking for on a Sunday morning :-) Good stuff!

Decent brunch food, you gotta know what to order though! Wait is usually an hour I heard, but we only waited for 20min to be seated at a table for four. Their crab cake Benedict had the best crab cake I have ever had! The salmon lox Benedict was very good too. Their house special bread pudding French toast was very unique. The texture of it was more like a hard pudding and tasted much like banana bread. Lather it in the honey and it will satisfy your sweet tooth (if you don't have anything against bananas!) I had a chorizo omelet which was alright The hash brown sides are the way to go! House mimosas were great, served in a bowl like it said on the menu :) One of them came with a hair which was replaced.. All in all a great spot to eat at with groups.

This place is poppin! We've been here twice during the week for breakfast it is busy which is always a good sign. The service is quick and staff is friendly. Magda provided us with excellent service. We ordered the mini breakfast which is just the right portion and a great value!

get there before 9 AM on weekends, otherwise you will have a long wait. Service and Food were good. We liked this location better for eating inside, much quieter even when restaurant full than the Kooser location. Kooser location is unbearable noisy when the place is full. I had the Veggie Skillet and was full half way through. Very tasty and lots of fresh vegetables. But I did not see any cheddar cheese. My husband had the cinnamon roll French toast, the egg batter was not soaked through the roll and only on outside.

4 stars. Still a favorite of mine but not as good as previous visits. Last time I was there, I had the Californian Eggs Benedict and they were delicious! This time I had the Smoked Salmon Benny and it wasn't what I remember from the time before. There was no cream cheese on the bagel even though that was one of the ingredients. Who wants salmon on a dry ass bagel? I had to ask twice to have my Bloody Mary served to me and once I had it, I wasn't a fan even though I did drink it all. Next time I'll stick with the mimosa as that never disappoints. Final Thought: I know they will make it up to me next time. I also enjoy the free fresh coffee outside when waiting for a table.

I'm from New Jersey. I'm only in San Jose for a little bit and this place made me feel like I was home. It is very reminiscent of a New Jersey diner. When my husband and I were walking up it looked very busy and I got nervous we were going to have to wait but we were seated right away! After being seated we also got coffee right away. The menu for breakfast is huge! They have a lot of speciality things and a lot of the normal stuff. The thing I liked the most was they have a section on the menu for smaller plates (and let me tell you, they are not that small) and they are pretty reasonably priced. I got the one egg option with bacon and it also came with hash browns and I substituted toast for a pancake. Everything was delicious but I LOVED the bacon and the pancake. My husband got a country style breakfast that came with a biscuit and gravy. He also said it was very good. I would 100% recommend coming here! This is absolutely our new breakfast spot!

This place is ok. I've been here two times for breakfast and both times my food was just ok. It wasn't bad but I thought the flavor was lacking a bit, but that could just be me having high expectations. I would come back here and try different dishes.

We've been here many many times now. It's our go-to breakfast spot for weekend mornings. Plus while we wait we always head over to OSH to see if there is anything cool on sale, pick up plants and garden supplies, etc. FYI there is ALWAYS a wait so be advised that you might not sit down for 30-60 minutes. The food is usually very good and you can't go wrong with the different options. The eggs benedict are fabulous as are the various scrambles and frittatas. My new favorite is the breakfast quesadilla, which is massive. You really can't go wrong with the main dishes. The service is also almost always very prompt and friendly. I've had hit-or-miss experiences with their bloody marys and fresh squeezed OJ - YMMV.

02.17.2015 - Breakfast 09:30 am Service: 5 Stars - Place was 2/3-3/4 full. Coffee brought to my table quickly and topped of regularly. This has always been the case with Bill's, nice piping hot and good flavored coffee. Waitress was nice and pleasant with a professional nature about her. My order: 2 Stars and that's being generous! - I ordered the El Paso Benedict; grilled onions and green bell peppers over corned beef hash on top of toasted English muffins. I asked for well done, crispy hash browns, a side of salsa and a bottle of Tapatio. Order arrived with has browns cooked on a very hot grill giving it that burnt look and taste. Absolutely no crispyness as you would get on medium hot grill cooked 5 minutes longer. One bite into the Bene left me wondering who trained the cook. The onions and peppers were barely warm and were raw extra crunchy needing af ew more minutes to get carmelized. Bits of outer onion skin were left on my tongue too. DoH! The "canned" corned beef hash also was barely warm with a few spots of cold. Come on, CB should have a nice crust and thoroughly cooked/warmed throughout. The poached eggs were a disaster; not runny but as close to hard boiled with a tiny run as one can get. At least the muffins were toasted correctly and the salsa, as usual, bueno.Too hungry to complain as I had been fasting since 9pm the previous night. Hey kitchen, get it together will ya. Don't be so lazy and cook things as they should be cooked. You now have forced me to try elsewhere for a decent breakfast.

OK, seriously, YUM. We waited for what felt like an eternity to be seated because there were so many people there for brunch. But it was definitely worth the wait. Everything was literally perfect. We had a party of 6 and once we were seated and ordered our food, it came quickly. The service was great, the food was exceptional. I'd love to go back.

I'm a fan of the Bill's Cafe on Willow and on The Alameda, so when I heard there was one literally not 15 minutes away from where I lived I was stoked! Met up with my coworkers to have breakfast for lunch, no better way to end my long day spent in Hayward than to dine here. The cafe looks brand new with fresh faced workers and fast service. I ordered my usual: Cup of Greek Soup and Eggs Benedict with hash browns extra crispy. No coffee today, as I had one in the morning. I haven't had their Greek soup in a while and thought it would be perfect for the chilly weather and it was delicious, tangy, savory and soft orzo. Yum! As for the Eggs Benedict it came out with a perfectly poached egg, thick cut Canadian bacon, creamy hollandaise and crispy hash browns. The food came out spot on and as expected. Service was quick with drinks, food came out decently fast, place looked clean and our server checked up on us often- but not exceedingly much. With holding a star as it was my first visit, but felt inclined to give it 5 stars for it's clean interior and perfect execution of food. Definitely will be back and will have to grab the bread pudding the next time I'm here and of course Bill's infamous Mimosas ;-)

Why can't this place be open for dinner too. I'm not a fan of American breakfast but bill the few places that I enjoying going. I usually order the egg Benedict. The egg is cook perfectly n the Hollandaise sauce so yummy. It hard to made a decent Hollandaise sauce n bill cafe nail it. The portion is huge you can share with someone else. Sunday is always crowed. My friend try there steak it was ok kind of chewy. So stick with the breakfast menu only

I've been going to this place at least 3 times so far and I must say, there has not been a time when I was disappointed walking out the door. The food was prepared great and the flavors were more than satisfying. The dishes are large and decently priced so one dish is definitely enough on average. If not, they also offer sides to enjoy. The eggs Benedict dishes are definitely a must to try. If this place is too far to travel, there is also a willow glen place as well. Be sure to come here with a friend because they will surely enjoy what they order, and I will definitely be coming back for more. Here is the menu to look at as well billscafe.com/Portals/0/…

I go here A LOT! This place makes me happy. If you're a picky eater, you could literally pick anything on their menu and still be very satisfied! I have yet to try anything I didn't love. The customer service is really good too...however, I do wish the 2 main hostess ladies smiled more. I get that it gets really hectic and busy, but sometimes they let it show in their face. "SMILE, everyday is a good day!" ;)

On par with the Willowglen location only because there is more space! It's farther but I think it's worth it if you're wanting to not get the 30mins-1hr waits at WG Bill's. I had their pork chop special. Really juicy. I needed it since it was a late brunch. I also ordered their Especial Modelo drink with their salt rimmed glass, yummo.

Came here on the way to LA, even though it's not very close to the 101 or 880. I actually don't remember how I ended up here since my GPS told me where to go. I'm glad I found this place though because their healthy omelette was delicious. I'm sure this exists elsewhere, but up to that point, I have never had an omelette made with just egg white. I will definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again.
